The Notre-Dame royal abbey of Jouarre was often ruined... at the time of the Norman invasions of the VIIIth and IXth centuries, but also at the time of the Hundred Years War, at the beginning of the XVth century. A big part of the present construction dates from 1742 and 1756, under abbess Catherine of Montmorin. We preserve a plan, achieved in 1780 by Duquesnel, that delivers us a perfect idea of the size of the realizations of this construction campaign. And these are again those same constructions that make the body of the abbey today.
